- Hazards posed by liquid nitrogen – Hazards posed by cold; cold burns, hypothermia and frostbite. Expansion rate of liquid nitrogen. Hazards of oxygen depletion. The need to monitor atmospheres. Personal Protective Equipment. Treatment of cold burns.
- Liquid nitrogen vessels – Safe working practices with dewars and pressure vessels.
- Potential oxygen enrichment – Oxygen enrichment and potential flash combustion.
- Safe manual handling – Key principles to moving vessels safely.
- Safe Storage – Principles of safe siting and storage of liquid nitrogen vessels.
- Practical decant – During this practical session staff will cover:
- Vessel labelling.
- Cleanliness of equipment, free from damage.
- Establishing the supply vessel operating pressure.
- How to safely reduce the operating pressure.
- Safe decant procedure.
WHO IS THE TRAINING FOR?
This practical training workshop is designed for anyone involved in the handling or decanting of liquid nitrogen, particularly those working with cryogenic vessels, dewars and associated equipment. It focuses on the safe transfer of liquid nitrogen from one vessel to another, helping delegates understand the risks involved, identify hazards and follow correct safety procedures. The course combines essential theory with hands-on training, covering vessel checks, valve identification, PPE, oxygen monitoring, pressure management and safe decanting techniques to ensure staff can carry out the process safely and confidently.
Duration: 5 hours
PRICING
The price is £1975.00 for up to 6 staff inclusive of certification and support documentation. Additional staff are £125.00 per head, up to a maximum of 10 staff. VAT is payable at the standard rate.
