  • Inert gases and oxygen depletion – Hazards posed when handling inert gases.
  • Oxidants and oxygen enrichment – Combustion triangle. The hazards posed by oils and greases. Incidents caused by oxygen and oil. The potential problems posed by PTFE tape. The need to leak test with approved solutions.
  • Fuel gases and flammability – Flammability ranges. Thermal decomposition of acetylene. Properties of propane, acetylene and hydrogen.
  • Hazards posed by gas cylinders – Design and function of cylinder valves. Do’s and don’ts with gas cylinders. Cylinder identification. Using gas cylinders safely.
  • Gas control equipment – Safe working procedures with regulators and hoses.
  • Handling gas cylinders safely – Do’s and Don’ts when moving gas cylinders. Personal protective equipment.
  • Storing gas cylinders safely – Key principles in storing compressed gas cylinders safely; includes design, construction, location, segregation and emergency procedures.

WHO IS THE TRAINING FOR?

This training workshop is designed for people who use industrial gas cylinders for a variety of purposes.

It consists of safety awareness theory only. It can be run in isolation or you can also book one of its supplementary practical workshops.

Duration: 3½ hours


PRICING

The price is £1125.00 for up to 6 staff inclusive of certification and support documentation. Additional staff are £80.00 per head, up to a maximum of 20 staff. VAT is payable at the standard rate.
