WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

  • Introduction – Outline of workshop content and objectives.
  • The need for personal protective equipment.
  • Design and function of gas regulators.
  • Team exercise – Pre-use visual checks on regulators and hoses.
  • Team exercise – Correct connection of a single cylinder system.
  • How manifold systems operate.
  • Team exercise – Correct cylinder changeover procedures on a generic manifold system.
  • Regulatory requirements with manifold systems.
  • Practical sessions:
    • Practical ‘milk-churning’ of a single cylinder.
    • Staff will set-up, pressurise and leak test a single cylinder nitrogen system. The session will cover:
      • Visual checks on the gas cylinder and valve
      • Visual checks on the regulator and gauges
      • Correct fitting of the regulator
      • Visual checks and correct fitting of the hose
      • Opening the cylinder valve safely
      • Setting the correct working pressure
      • Correct leak test procedures
      • Rectification of leaks
      • Closing the cylinder valve and safely releasing residual pressure
    • Review of current cylinder changeover procedures undertaken on the manifold system(s).

WHO IS THE TRAINING FOR?

This training workshop gives staff the opportunity to practice hands-on the correct changeover, connection and leak test of single gas cylinders and also those used on fixed piped gas supply manifold systems.

Before attending this workshop all staff must complete online gas cylinder safety awareness theory training. Alternatively, if preferred, the theory element can be delivered at your site by one of our instructors.
