To avoid confusion and the possibility of an incident different gas types are fitted with different types of connections.

What type of connections would you find on industrial compressed gas cylinders in the UK?

Left hand threads for oxygen and inert gases but right hand for flammable gases
Right hand threads for oxygen and inert gases
but left hand threads for flammable gases
Bayonet connectors
Left hand snap connectors for all cylinder types
Right hand threads for oxygen, left hand threads for fuel gases and snap connectors for inert gases

 

Sorry that was incorrect. Oxygen and inert gases have right hand threads whilst fuel gases have left hand threads

That was correct. Oxygen and inert gases have right hand threads whilst fuel gases have left hand threads

into the connecting nuts
