By combining online study and practical hands-on training, this cost effective course enables delegates to conduct full safety checks on gas cylinders and associated equipment, including oxy-fuel workstations.
Our Gas Equipment Inspectors Training is designed for:
- Anyone responsible for checking oxy-fuel and/or other gas systems on their own site
- Individuals who visit sites to carry out gas equipment safety checks
- Managers, Supervisors and staff from all functions who are responsible for the safe use of oxy-fuel gas systems within their departments
Gas Equipment Inspectors Training - Stage 1 - Online Safety Workshop
The first stage of the training is completed online. You will study our Using Oxy-fuel Gases Safely e-Learning workshop. At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Correctly identify gas cylinders
- Recognise how different types of gas cylinders operate
- Be aware of the hazards of asphxia
- Recognise the hazards posed by oxygen enrichment
- Identify flammability hazards
- Select the correct regulators
- Recognise the need for flashback arrestors
- Select the correct hoses, torch and nozzle
- Recognise the hazards of using incorrect manual handling techniques
- Re-assess current storage facilities in line with safe working practices and the relevant Guidance Notes
- Introduce safe working practices into their workplace
Gas Equipment Inspectors Training - Stage 2 - On-site Instructor-led Gas Equipment Inspection Workshop
The second stage of the training is delivered by one of our instructors at your premises. It consists of a 2 to 2½ hour training session containing both theory and practical elements. At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Correctly inspect oxy-fuel gas workstations
- Identify functional differences between regulator types
- Undertake a pre-use visual check on gas regulators
- Select and fit the correct flashback arrestors
- Identify the correct hoses to be fitted
- Select the correct cutting torch and nozzle
- Undertake functional tests on regulators
- Undertake a reverse flow test on flashback arrestors and hose check valves
- Carry out a leak test on a pressurised torch
- Correctly leak test a gas system
- Recognise the need for safe shut-down procedures
- Recognise the need to keep accurate inspection records
Workshop Price
The workshop is priced at £590 for up to 2 delegates, additional delegates at £245 per head.
VAT is payable at the standard rate.
Certificates of attendance and comprehensive workshop literature is provided, which delegates can use for their continued reference in the workplace. Relevant Standard Operating Procedures and a detailed Gas Equipment Inspection Checklist are included.
